September update – 09 Sep 25

Hi all. Quick update on Septembers itinerary at the club.

A reminder that this Saturday at the club is a private party but as always, members are welcome.

Bingo is back for another big money session on Thursday 18th September and then it’s another live show on Saturday 20th September with the return of the Midnight River Band.
Members entry is £5 and guests £8 – those who saw these guys before will remember they do some blues but they have also changed the playlist for the second half with the addition of some great pop classics so come along and enjoy another live session.
Please contact Pete to reserve your seats, all monies to be paid on the evening of the show – remember, if you want your seats reserved, please get in touch asap.

Now onto the main September subject and that is of course Macmillan.

Many of you will know what a successful fundraiser the Darts Marathon undertaken by our Social Darts Group has been – 12 people who started out at 5pm all went the full 12 hours so it was all hugs and congratulations when they hit 5am.

Thanks also to Lucia, Callum, Michelle and Paul for dropping in and playing some games to give us all a bit of a break. Special thanks are due to Fran and Tina for providing a wonderful food spread throughout the event. Massive well done to Georgina, Tom, Teresa, Pat, Tina, Louise, Paul, Kev, Eraina, Julie and Hilda – what an effort to go the full 12 hours. The initial target was to raise £1000 – unbelievably and thanks to the generosity of so many, we stand at £3418 with some cash still to come in – we are 7th on Macmillans fundraising table out of 891 teams. Just amazing from the whole team.

Saturday 27th September) is race night- this is always a busy one and already we have sold 31 horses of the 56 available so if you want to own a horse (£5) and have a chance to win £20 as a winning owner, contact Pete asap. Don’t forget, we also have the famous AUCTION RACE which will be the 6th race of the event.

We are looking for race sponsors @ £40 per race if you want your name printed in the race night programme. Remember, every penny of profit goes to MacMillan. We have three races sponsored so far. Entry to the race night is FREE and it all starts around 8.30pm.

On Sunday 27th, its the legendary Macmillan breakfast and auction day – breakfast is served from around 9.30am and again all profits to the charity with auction and raffle going ahead at lunchtime.

In 2024, you raised £2611 over the Macmillan weekend with the quiz, the race night and of course the Macmillan sunday breakfast and auction day. That bettered the total of £2200 in 2023 and this year our aim is to be grow the total yet again. We are already way ahead so now we would love to reach £5000 or more.
